Mr. Snow – that means skiing under all (weather-)conditions for those who are crazy for wintersports
But who is behind „Mr. Snow“? The founders Jens Reindl, Arndt Schumann and Felix Neubert feel connected by there passion towards winter sports, exactly as their clients. The three of them are certified DLSV – ski instructors and love theirselves to push the edges into the slope, whereby Jens is a passionated snowboarder, Arndt masters the old school of telemark and Felix heart is beating for cross-country skiing. One takes this passion and connects it to the profound technical knowledge of a qualified industrial engineer, a qualified engineer and a Master of Science in Sports Engineering. Ready is the never melting snow. The expertise is used to roll out the white carpet for Mr. Snow customers 365 days a year. Together they develop the artificial snow continuously further, advise all interested parties concerning future projects and care about the custom scaling of products.
Innovation made in Germany
Chemnitz advertises through the claim „City of Modernity“. So it’s no surprise, that the founders of the textile slope Jens Reindl, Arndt Schumann and Felix Neudert all studied at the Technical University Chemnitz. When they meet again, the succesful story of textile snow takes its course.
A start-up story
In 2008 Jens Reindl and Arndt Schumann meet again after their studies. At this time, Jens is already active in the textile industry and Arndt works as a scientist at the university. While visiting the world cup ski jump in Klingenthal, Saxony, they develop an idea: What ski jumpers can do during the summer must also be possible for skiing and snowboarding! The trip goes on. As a traditionally low-snow country, England was the first to make use of a plastic slope for training and competition purposes. Jens and Arndt have a look at the facilities in England and see great potential for improvement. In general too dull and slow, all visited slopes have to be irrigated or oiled. Even in case of light falls there are nasty fire wounds. This is where it comes to textile snow. It would be highly slippery, safer and would also save operating costs.
In 2009, Jens and Arndt combine their knowledge of snow sports and materials to work on their textile success recipe: a dry slope on which the ski glides faster than on fresh snow and which even works where snow cannons fail. Together with the Chemnitz University of Technology and the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, they are launching a 3-year research project.
In 2012 Felix, the passionate mountain sportsenthusiast joined the team, who had already gained experience with the textile skislope at the Chemnitz University of Technology. He brings his expertise in cross-country skiing and technical sports equipment in general and is now responsible for the production of the mats.
In 2013 ski instructors from the United Ski School Oberwiesenthal will test how the synthetic slope is compared to real snow. Only after their positive feedback, the start-up Mr. Snow is established. Since then, the ski carpet has been continuously developed. Mr. Snow advises clients such as fun and slopestyle parks, ski schools, lift operators, event organizers, ski halls, tubing, leisure and holiday parks. There is a professional answer to any question about upcoming projects.
In 2016 the production of the textile slope is brought into the own company. Thanks to modern machines and professional staff, the complete production line comes from one hand now. All products by Mr. Snow are “Made in Germany”. Today, textile snow lies reliably in all weather conditions in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, France and other countries of Europe. Even to Dubai and Japan, the high-tech products from Mr.Snow have been sold.
